Baptism | Shepherd of the Lake

Baptism is an act of God and is the giving of the gift of God’s gracious and unconditional love. It is a pure gift, with nothing we could do to earn it. In baptism we receive friendship with God, the presence of Christ, the Holy Spirit, forgiveness, a new and expansive family (the Christian community), an identity (forever a child of God), resurrection and eternal life, and so much more!

We affirm the inclusiveness of God’s love for all we baptize adults, children of adults, youth, and infants. Baptism for us is also a way of life – a life of following in the way of Jesus. In baptism there is love and forgiveness and so we live a life loving God, those around us, and ourselves.

Infant/Youth Baptism

As Lutherans, we believe that God's gift of baptism is available for even our youngest family members — infants and children of any age are welcome. Parents considering baptizing their child attend a Baptism Class.

Adult Baptism

Adults desiring baptism meet privately with a pastor for a conversation about the Christian faith. Contact the church office to schedule a time to meet with a pastor.
