Worship @ SOLLC
“The God Jesus incarnates and embodies is not a distant God that must be placated. Jesus’ God is not sitting on some throne demanding worship and throwing down thunderbolts like Zeus. Jesus never said, “Worship me”; he said, “Follow me.” He asks us to imitate him in his own journey of full incarnation. To do so, he gives us the two great commandments:
"Love God with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength and Love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:28-31, Luke 10:25-28)." - Richard Rohr, Franciscan Mysticism: I AM That Which I Am Seeking
Our worship is four-fold and include time to:
Gather: We bring our honest selves before a God who is always present.
Hear the Word: We listen to what God is speaking to us through Scripture, teachers, and each other.
Respond: We respond to what we have heard by interacting with the message, through baptism, and through meeting Christ at the Communion table.
Are Sent: We are sent to continue worshipping, continue loving and serving God, and loving and serving our neighbors.
