The story of my rewarding volunteer experience began a few years ago when I met Lee Krueger. I was part of the knitting group and Lee asked if I would start delivering hand knit hats and quilts made by SOLLC members to various homeless shelters in Minneapolis. Our community has donated more than 278 quilts and 1,525 hand-made hats and scarves! This is very exciting when it is so cold out this time of year.  Last year she asked if I would be interested in teaching youth who live at Passageways how to knit. I was thrilled with this opportunity. Over the summer I took a training course required by the LINK to volunteer with the youth. That is where I met Pastor Rebecca, Katy, Doris and Linda. We are now all part of a monthly art group at Passageways. Each month we interact with the youth while showing them new skills. Pastor Rebecca also asked if I would be interested in serving as a member of the advisory board for Safe Harbor / LINK. We meet monthly to work on various projects that benefit the young victims of sex trafficking. I really enjoy working with the girls and hope that we are making an impact on their lives.
