The pre-marriage process at SOLLC helps support you and your partner on your path to marriage, giving you the tools, community, and encouragement to help set you up for a strong and healthy marriage. Contact Us Our Space SOLLC has gorgeous high ceilings with multiple windows in our worship center, as well as a beautiful, sprawling outdoor area. The space can accommodate large weddings (seating 800) and yet can feel intimate for smaller groups. Our "backyard" is Horkey Park, which is the perfect outdoor space for photos, featuring an expansive pond with a long bridge, gazebo, and trail. Have a wedding idea that is out of the ordinary?     < Back Patti Arntz Patti Arntz has been a music educator and church musician in the Twin Cities area for over 40 years. She has degrees in music from Hamline University, St. Paul, MN, Drake University, Des Moines, IA and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN. Patti recently retired from teaching elementary classroom music with the Robbinsdale Schools in the Twin Cities area. During her 30 years of full-time teaching, she also directed the Robbinsdale All-District Elementary Honors Choir for 15 years. Throughout her teaching career, Patti has served as an organist and director of youth/adult choirs in local churches. Keeping in touch with her elementary music roots, she serves as an online adjunct professor at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN, instructing elementary education majors on teaching and integrating music into their future classrooms. She also writes curriculum for the Minnesota Orchestra’s Young People’s Concerts as the students prepare to attend concerts at Orchestra Hall. Patti has sung with the choral organization, Singers in Accord, since 2009 and is a charter member of the choir. She enjoys outdoor activities and traveling with her husband, Rolland. Her adult children, Melani and Kyle are both very involved in music in the Twin Cities area. Fun fact: Patti enjoys traveling to other countries where she seeks out local folk songs.     Know how to play the handbells or want to learn? Join the Shepherd of the Lake Glory Ringers and Glory Chimes ensembles or Music Makers! Ringing Know how to play the hand bells or want to learn? Join the Shepherd of the Lake Lakeside Ringers and Lakeside Junior Ringers ensembles or Music Makers! LAKESIDE RINGERS NEW! We are offering TWO handbell ensembles this year. Lakeside Ringers I The Lakeside Ringers I are a dynamic handbell ensemble - ages 12+ are welcome to join. This ensemble performs monthly at Sunday Worship during the September thru May calendar season. The Lakeside Ringers I perform a variety of intermediate to advanced repertoire. Outside of performing once a month, this group participates at SOLLC signature events and also participates in the Twin Cities Bellfest. Lakeside Ringers II The Lakeside Ringers II is a beginner friendly ringing handbell ensemble - ages 10+ are welcome. No prior note and rhythm reading knowledge is required, however, some some music reading skills are recommended. This ensemble performs almost every other month at Sunday Worship throughout the September thru May calendar season. Both programs run from September through May, and there is no cost to join. Grief & Loss Support Grief and loss are part of the human experience, but when your world has been flipped upside down with a painful loss, it can be very difficult to navigate. We at Shepherd of the Lake are here to walk with you on your grief and loss journey, providing support and resources along the way. GROWING THROUGH LOSS If you’ve experienced loss and need additional support, consider joining the Growing Through Loss Group (GTL), which provides support for adults who have experienced loss, information about the grieving process, caring and support from others who are also grieving, and a confidential setting to share feelings and memories. SOLLC is one of 15 Interdenominational churches making up the South Suburban Grief Coalition which meets over a five-week span in the spring and fall. Membership is not required to worship with us or be involved here. Do you have a nursery? We currently do not have a nursery. We do, however, have spaces during worship that have been created for little ones. There is a wiggle area in the upper sanctuary with toys and chairs, a room in the lower sanctuary where kids and parents can gather, and we have tables and chairs in the lower worship area for families to sit together while children color, play or read. Can I take Communion if I am not Lutheran? Yes, all are welcome to participate in Communion here at SOLLC. Can I rent space? Yes, you can.     < Back Robert Graham Rob Graham has been a private music and voice instructor, professional singer, choral conductor and arts administrator for 13 years. He is currently the Learning and Engagement Manager at VocalEssence – a leading choral arts organization based in Minneapolis – overseeing several education and community programs, including the renowned WITNESS School Program that celebrates African American culture and heritage. He is also the conductor of VocalEssence Vintage Voices, an exciting choral program that integrates the arts into the everyday lives of older adults by fostering the creation of choirs in independent living communities and senior centers. Rob is passionate about working with teens and adults of all ages, and witnesses the positive benefits and health outcomes of ongoing participation in the arts. Rob earned the Master of Music degree in two concentrations – Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting – from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance and Business Administration from Xavier University of Louisiana. He is currently a member of the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers, a member of the Schola Cantorum at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis, and performs occasionally with several other choral and vocal music ensembles around the Twin Cities. Most recently, Rob concluded a 6-year tenure as a tenor section leader of the adult choir at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. He also enjoys providing vocal music for memorial services, weddings and other special events. While not making music, or teaching others to make music, Rob enjoys spending most of his free time outdoors in nature, attending live music and theater productions, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
