Our Church Council The Congregational Council of Shepherd of the Lake is responsible for defining and evaluating the mission of Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church. Elected at the Annual Meeting of the congregation, the Council meets monthly and works in partnership with the Sr. Pastor. Council members are passionate about this congregation and serve to discern how to take all of the resources of this faith community - the amazing talents, passions, and gifts of the people, the excellence of the facility, and the talented staff, and use them to best respond to Jesus' command to love God and serve our neighbors near and far. Communion 101 is for anyone that is interested and ready to learn more about this sacrament. Typically geared toward 3rd-grade students, but any age is welcome. Communion 101 Communion 101 is for students who have not yet completed Communion Instruction, and, who feel interested and ready to learn more deeply about this sacrament. Typically geared toward 3rd grade students and their parent/caregiver. Together kids and their caring adult develop a deeper understanding of Communion through hands-on activities like games, songs and painting chalices. There is an adult only Q&A session during this workshop as well. NOT YOUR TYPICAL 'SHHH' TYPE OF CHURCH Our worship services are very kid-friendly! We have created different worship areas with children in mind so all families can enjoy worship in a way that works best for them. We offer wiggle worship and kids are invited up front to play percussion during the sending song. You may even see an impromptu dance party break out in the middle of a worship song! NO STRINGS ATTACHED You do not have to be a member to attend worship or be involved in our programs. You can choose to be anonymous or participate in a million activities. There are zero prerequisites to attending our church. None. COMMUNION IS FOR EVERYONE When we say "Open Table", we mean it! Membership is not required to worship with us or be involved here. Do you have a nursery? We currently do not have a nursery. We do, however, have spaces during worship that have been created for little ones. There is a wiggle area in the upper sanctuary with toys and chairs, a room in the lower sanctuary where kids and parents can gather, and we have tables and chairs in the lower worship area for families to sit together while children color, play or read. Can I take Communion if I am not Lutheran? Yes, all are welcome to participate in Communion here at SOLLC. Can I rent space? Yes, you can. Adult Learning At Shepherd of the Lake, we deeply value intellectual curiosity, questions, and conversation. We engage faith with our whole selves – body, mind, and spirit. Please don’t check your brain at the door! Wherever you are on your faith journey, we welcome you to take part in our Adult Learning classes and workshops with Open Hearts, Open Minds, and an Open Table! Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church outdoor summer worship on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm in the courtyard. Join us for campfire songs, communion, reflection and s'mores. S'More Worship Join us for S'More Outdoor Worship Services in our courtyard on May 8, June 12, July 10, August 14 & September 11 (the 2nd Thursday of each month) at 7pm. We'll gather for fun and fellowship, prayer and praise, a scripture reflection, and Holy Communion.
