How do I register for an event as a guest? Guest registrations will need to be done on a laptop or desktop computer. Head to sollc.org and select the registration. Enter your email address and select Begin Registration. Add name of participant attending the event. For multiple, click + add another registrant for each additional attendee. Select Next. Fill out the registration form, select Next: Review. Apply payment (if required). Select Register. Does Realm Connect replace the church website? Feed My Starving Children MobilePack February 2nd-8th SOLLC is hosting the South Metro MobilePack from February 3rd-8th. Adults and children 5 years and older will measure and scoop ingredients, seal bags and prepare boxes for shipping. By volunteering, donating, or fundraising, your generosity makes a huge difference in the lives of thousands of children in need around the world. At least 6,200 children die each day from hunger-related causes (UNICEF). Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a Christian non-profit organization committed to feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit. The process is simple: People just like you donate funds for the meal ingredients. Volunteers hand-pack the meals. Meals are donated to FMSC food partners around the world. Learn More The Link - Passageways A Shelter for Exploited Youth The Link's 28 programs provide supportive housing, intensive case management services, and skills development to youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness, sex trafficking, and/or involvement in the juvenile justice system. The Passageways Shelter and Housing Program provides specialized shelter beds for youth ages 12-17 and housing for youth ages 16-24 who are victims of sex trafficking. Hope's Portage is a transitional housing facility located in Scott County, across the street from Shepherd of the Lake. It will open in late fall 2025 and will have 12-14 apartments for those individuals and families in need of transitional housing. Hopes Portage Hopes Portage offers transitional housing for families facing housing insecurity. Situated directly across from Shepherd of the Lake, Hopes Portage was established through a collaborative partnership between Scott County, Community Action Partnership (CAP), and Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church (SOLLC). SOLLC PARTNERSHIP WITH HOPES PORTAGE Scott County is the overall project and facility owner and operator of Hopes Portage. The CAP Agency provides coordinated services and case management for clients. Shepherd of the Lake provides wrap around services including a food pantry, welcome supply packs containing essential items, housing unit turns between family stays, and special events. Volunteer With Hope's Portage VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Leadership Roles Serve as a leader on one of three teams to provide ongoing vision for our wrap around services. We request that leaders commit to a one-year term (September-August). Welcome Team:   The Welcome Team is dedicated to offering hospitality with integrity, focusing on creating welcoming housing spaces that honor the dignity of families staying at Hopes Portage. This team oversees the collection and distribution of welcome packs, which provide essential items to families as they move in. Additionally, the Welcome Team manages the turnover of housing units between family stays, ensuring each space is ready for the next family in need. Food Insecurity Team: The Food Insecurity Team’s vision is to support the health and wellbeing of families by maintaining an onsite food pantry at Hopes Portage. The team manages the pantry to provide weekly groceries and hygiene essentials for families, with baby supplies available upon request. Special Events Team: The Special Events Team’s vision is to foster a welcoming and connected community at Hopes Portage. Shepherd's Path Community Garden Grow Together Located in Horkey Park off County Road 42 and Shepherd’s Path Road, Shepherd's Path Community Garden was established in 2009 as a way for people to grow their own food economically during the recession. If you would like to join a SOLLC Life Group, check out our opportunities below. HELPING HANDS Various Dates and Times Helping Hands is a life group and a service team rolled into one. Our Helping Hands team provides various types of support and maintenance around the SOLLC building and grounds. Some of their past projects include painting, repairing, organizing, gardening, mulching and creatively solving needs from each ministry. Join the SOLLC Hiking Club! This group will try new hikes all year round, sharing and reflecting together as we hike. Hikes will generally be 2-3.5 miles in length, potentially working up to some bigger hikes depending on the location & time of year. We'll try to generally stay local, but are open to the possibility of making a bigger hiking trip once a year. WOMEN, WELLNESS & NATURE Monthly This group offers women the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and the holistic benefits of nature while engaging in fun, planned activities! The group will meet monthly beginning in November. Upcoming: Sat, November 22, 10am - Noon Gratitude for Nature Hike, Clearly Lake Regional Park Prepare for Thanksgiving week on this guided, scenic 2.5-mile walk along the lake and through the forested turf trails. We will stop occasionally to engage in activities designed to heighten our appreciation of nature. After the hike, warm up in front of the fireplace with cocoa, popcorn, tea and cookies. Thurs, December 4, 4pm Full Moon Walk & Social Hour 4-5:30pm, Three Rivers Park Full Moon Walk at The Landing in Shakopee Connect with nature on a leisurely walk in the woods with a historical interpreter. Witness the rise of December's full Cold moon over the Minnesota River and learn the significance of the moon names. < Back Robert Graham Rob Graham has been a private music and voice instructor, professional singer, choral conductor and arts administrator for 13 years. He is currently the Learning and Engagement Manager at VocalEssence – a leading choral arts organization based in Minneapolis – overseeing several education and community programs, including the renowned WITNESS School Program that celebrates African American culture and heritage. He is also the conductor of VocalEssence Vintage Voices, an exciting choral program that integrates the arts into the everyday lives of older adults by fostering the creation of choirs in independent living communities and senior centers. Rob is passionate about working with teens and adults of all ages, and witnesses the positive benefits and health outcomes of ongoing participation in the arts. Rob earned the Master of Music degree in two concentrations – Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting – from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance and Business Administration from Xavier University of Louisiana. He is currently a member of the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers, a member of the Schola Cantorum at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis, and performs occasionally with several other choral and vocal music ensembles around the Twin Cities. Most recently, Rob concluded a 6-year tenure as a tenor section leader of the adult choir at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. He also enjoys providing vocal music for memorial services, weddings and other special events. While not making music, or teaching others to make music, Rob enjoys spending most of his free time outdoors in nature, attending live music and theater productions, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
