Shepherd of the Lake offers a beautiful alternative to traditional cemetery burial plots with our Columbarium. Columbarium We believe that every human life is uniquely blessed by God and the way we celebrate our loved ones upon their passing, as well as where they choose to be laid to rest, is a very personal decision. Shepherd of the Lake offers a beautiful alternative to traditional cemetery burial plots with our Columbarium. What is a Columbarium? A columbarium is a group of small compartments or niches designed to hold the cremated remains (cremains) of loved ones who have died. A columbarium is an alternative to cemetery burial plots. Cremains are placed in one niche with a granite front. Each niche includes an engraved bronze plaque on the exterior with name, birth and death dates. An Alternative to Cemetery Burial Plots Our ancestors were typically laid to rest in burial grounds adjoining rural churches or in city mega cemeteries. The increasing demand and cost of land have made large cemeteries less accessible, feasible, and affordable. While cremation rates are now approaching 70%, they are expected to top 90% in the near future. A practical alternative for burial has once again become sites adjacent to churches for the cremated remains of congregants and friends of the church. Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church is proud to offer Shepherd’s Path Memorial Columbarium as an alternative, covering our congregation throughout life and beyond. Shepherd’s Flock Preschool is a NAEYC-accredited program and a ministry of Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church. Shepherd’s Flock Preschool is a National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited program and a ministry of Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church. Our preschool is open to the public and serves children, ages 33 months to five years old, in Prior Lake/Savage/Shakopee and surrounding communities. There is no religious affiliation requirement to attend our preschool. WE BELIEVE Students should have FUN while LEARNING. Each child is accepted as an individual. In supporting and partnering with families during your child’s time with us. In outdoor learning - we have 15 acres of nature preserve for outdoor activities. Shepherd of the Lake offers private music lessons for anyone wanting to learn an instrument. We have an amazing group of talented teachers. The Lakeside Studio offers private music lessons in Guitar, Ukulele, Violin, Piano, Flute, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Bari Saxophone, Trumpet, French horn, Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium, Tuba. The Lakeside Studio is a program that has been in the making for years. In a few words, it is a safe and welcoming learning environment focused on Music and the Arts, that leans into our church values of Open Hearts, Open Minds, and an Open Table. Our hope is to build a program that can stand the test of time through the support of our church community, offering programs and opportunities to all ages based on our love for Music and the Arts. In worship, we also come to the Table to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion and hear the unconditional promise of God’s grace and love. Our Communion Ministry brings Holy Communion to those who cannot attend worship because of health and life circumstances. Trained communion ministers extend God’s love and, in this act, receive God’s love themselves. Our intro to handbell ringing workshop is open to ages 12 through adult. This is a fantastic opportunity to either try ringing for the first time or use this as continuing ed to ringing. Registrants will learn the techniques needed to ring and will also be guided through how to read music. This is a soft-course into learning how to play handbells. Started January 14th. Community Plate A community meal for all Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church (SOLLC) and partner Smoke Signals gather all in the community for fo od and fellowship on the second and last Thursday of each month. Gather all, break bread, and enjoy fellowship. Volunteer Volunteers are needed to prepare, setup and serve meals for up to 200 guests. Groups are encouraged to sign up.
